  Rita M. Ritz, 91, of Remsen, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.
  
  Rita M. Ritz was born July 27, 1915, at rural Oyens, the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Delperdang) Majeres. Rita was raised in the Oyens area and received her education at St. Catherine's Catholic School in Oyens. She then did domestic work in the Granville area. On Oct. 22, 1940, she married John E. Ritz at Oyens. They made their home in Remsen.
  
  She was a homemaker, mother of four and helped John at the gas station, Ritz Super Service, in Remsen when she could. She loved to cook and keep house and liked to knit and made each grandchild a quilt. She was an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed gardening and loved to play cards.
  
  John died July 18, 1995. She had been a resident of the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen since Nov. 21, 2000.
  
  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, church Guild and Catholic Daughters of America, all of Remsen.
  
  Survivors include four children, Jim and his wife, Marilyn of Des Moines, Joan and her husband, Bill Bates of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Paul and his wife, Laurie of Bloomington, Minn., and Philip and his wife, Carol of Remsen; 14) grandchildren, Gina and her husband Jake DeVoodg, Roger and his wife Christine Ritz, Rob and his wife Kristy Ritz, Cindy and her husband Nels Hackl, Brian and his wife Nina Bates, Angie and her husband Cameron Lurie, Craig and his wife Shelly Ritz, Kari and her husband Greg Thiessen, Christopher and his wife Amanda Ritz, Kevin and his wife Patty Ritz, Matthew Ritz, Michael and his wife Jill Ritz, Jody Ritz and special friend Steven Foss, and Cheryl Ritz; 15) great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosemarie Staab of Remsen; three sisters-in-law, Jeanette and her husband, Clarence Ricke of Remsen, Lorraine Wood of Fort Worth, Texas and Helen Ritz of Sioux City.
  
  She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Mathias Lurie; one brother, Cyril Majeres and his wife Rose Ann; and four brothers-in-law, Ralph Staab, Edward Ritz, Silas Ritz and Perry Wood.
  
  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a rosary at 3 p.m. by St. Mary's Guild and the Catholic Daughters of America and a vigil prayer service at 8 p.m., all at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
  
  Casketbearers will be Roger Ritz, Robert Ritz, Brian Bates, Craig Ritz, Michael Ritz, Christopher Ritz, Kevin Ritz and Matthew Ritz.
